You or your loved one may be in need of just one type of treatment, or a multi-phase step down process of different types of treatment.
Treatment type and length is largely dependent upon the severity of the problem. Many treatment centers today offer individualized and customized programs to best fit the unique needs of each patient. Aurora Recovery Centre proudly offers a step down program open to customization per patient.
Aurora Recovery offers medical detox. Medical detox is done in a professional and clinically supervised setting. With 24 hour supervision, each patient is guaranteed to be attended to if symptoms of withdrawal become unmanageable. Medical detox specifically includes the use of prescription medications to manage the intensity of withdrawal symptoms. As opposed to at home detox or quitting cold turkey, a medical detox in a licensed facility provides safety and care. Withdrawal symptoms can range from mild to severe which might include heart failure or seizures. For patients who have used within twenty four hours of seeking treatment, detox is a necessary step for securely coming off of all substances. Detox is the most high risk period of sobriety for relapse. Going through detox in a safe environment is critical.
Inpatient treatment includes treatment, room, board, and food, within one facility. Living on site, patients can rely on 24 hour staff available to talk or attend to their medical needs at any moment. Inpatient is recommended for those who might still pose a threat to themselves or others by being at high risk to relapse. Additionally, for those who are unable to care for themselves or manage the simple requirements of life for treatment- like food, transportation, and commitment- inpatient treatment makes recovery easy. For most, the average 30-90 day stay for inpatient treatment will not be enough of a foundation for recovery. They will need to transition to intensive outpatient or partial hospitalization programming.
Intensive Outpatient and Partial Hospitalization
Both IOP and PHP are programs that take place onsite at a facility, but have the patients reside off site either in their own homes, halfway homes, or sober living housing. Both programs are reduced versions of the inpatient programs which will continue to include group therapy sessions, didactic lectures, and individual therapy sessions. PHP will be an all day treatment extending the same hours as inpatient, five days a week. IOP will be just a few days a week to five days a week with a reduced amount of hours.
Sober and Transitional Living
Sober and Transitional living homes provide a safe place for recovering addicts and alcoholics recently out of treatment to reside. Regular testing and breathalyzing takes place in these homes to keep people accountable for their sobriety. Some homes are associated with treatment facilities, so the residents continue their treatment at a specific facility. Others are just homes where residents can either go to treatment or start living their lives. Typically, sober living is for starting to live a sober life whereas transitional living is for those continuing on in aftercare services.
Aurora Recovery Centre offers all levels of treatment to men and women seeking transformational recovery from addiction or alcoholism. For more information on the details of our programs call 1-844-515-STOP today.
