At Aurora Recovery Centre we can help you grow in an ecosystem of understanding.

Residential Inpatient Addiction Treatment

We are a full service residential addiction recovery centre that focuses on biological, physical, spiritual and psychological well-being, using evidence based modalities. The facility, previously a lakeside resort, has been updated to perfectly suit the needs of a premier treatment centre. On 25 acres, set in the serenity of nature, we are located on the shores of Lake Winnipeg one hour north of Winnipeg, in Gimli Manitoba.

What Happens in Inpatient Addiction Treatment?

We work closely with you and your family throughout the entire continuum of care. From initial contact through to your continuing care plan, we walk alongside you, providing quality health care, dignity and expertise.

Assessment

Throughout your residential stay you will be assessed to ensure the level of care is meeting your level of need. Initially you’ll be psychologically, physically and clinically assessed to ensure that your treatment is tailored to you. Our interdisciplinary team of clinical counsellors, nurse practitioners, doctors, psychiatrists, support staff and our family program director collaborate to create your personalized recovery plan. We identify what stage your illness has progressed to and what resources you have in your life. We view your resources as Recovery Capital – internal and external assets that can be used to initiate and sustain recovery.

Detox

Our professional medical detox facility supports you throughout your detox process. 24 hour care ensures that you are as comfortable as possible and can transition smoothly into programming. Our team of doctors, nurses and clinicians work diligently to facilitate a supportive environment while you detox. Aurora is the only private treatment centre in Manitoba with a 24/7 medical detox unit. Medical detox for addiction provides stabilization for a chronic condition, but by itself does not change the long-term course of the illness. While detox alone is not considered addiction treatment, it is an essential piece of the treatment process for many people and medically supported detox is the safest and most comfortable way to go through withdrawal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Residential inpatient addiction treatment is a comprehensive, live-in program that provides 24/7 care and support for individuals struggling with substance abuse or addiction. This type of treatment allows patients to focus solely on their recovery in a safe, structured environment.

The duration of residential inpatient treatment can vary depending on individual needs, but it typically ranges from 30 to 90 days. Some programs may offer extended care options for those requiring longer-term support.

Residential inpatient treatment utilizes a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as individual counseling, group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), family therapy, and holistic approaches like yoga, meditation, and art therapy.

Many health insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare, provide coverage for residential inpatient addiction treatment. It’s important to check with your insurance provider to understand the specific details of your plan’s coverage.

After completing residential inpatient treatment, patients typically transition to an outpatient program or sober living environment to continue their recovery journey. Aftercare planning and support services are crucial for maintaining long-term sobriety.

Residential inpatient treatment may be the best option if an individual is struggling with a severe addiction, has tried outpatient treatment without success, or needs a more intensive, structured environment to focus on their recovery. It’s recommended to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the most appropriate level of care.

Many residential inpatient treatment facilities allow family visits as part of the recovery process. Family therapy sessions and scheduled visiting hours can help strengthen support systems and promote healing for both the patient and their loved ones.
